Kiribati, located in the central tropical Pacific Ocean, is officially known as the Republic of Kiribati and it is an island country. Kiribati is a member of PARTA. The country earns a significant amount of revenue from the licensing fee every year from fishing ships operating in Kiribati's territorial waters. Countries that pay the fee include Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and the United States. The country earns over Twenty-Million dollars from the licensing fee every year. An overwhelming majority of workforce is involved in fishing and the cultivation of crops including bananas, breadfruit, and papaya. Chief industries are fishing and handicrafts. |
